Hi Laurie,
I love the color of web page! We need to figure out a common time when we all can meet. It's been crazy this week. I'm glad your computer is working again. I'm still waiting patiently for my whiteboard to be installed.
Susie
I would like to begin to use this as a communication tool between my students, parents and myself. I have been really working on my webpage so I am going to add this as a link on it and see how it goes.
Well Maureen I wish I knew. This is new to me too! Eventually we can use this as a way to keep a running conversation going. I just have to get some topics going. Can you think of a start. What are some things you would like to see?
I'll have to think on that a little. I do know that Leanna came home one day with a nice vocabulary word that she had learned and was trying to use it in different sentences. I really liked that idea to strengthen their vocabulary. I find my 7th grade daughter constantly saying to me "I don't know what you just said, what does that word mean?" It kind of drives me crazy - (or how about ludicrous). I'm not a super intellectual (well maybe LOL) but anyhow, words like justify, consequences, alternatives, you know words like that... unique but useful words. How about a word each day or week that the kids have to try to use in conversation?? Maybe by 7th grade they can converse with more literate finesse! OK know I'm just cracking myself up... I better go.
I like it!! We just need to make sure that those who don't have computer availability get the communications, too. We want everyone to feel "in the loop."
I am so excited about our Folk Fair. The students have done an outstanding job on creating news letters and powerpoints. They are whiz kids with technology. Lets hope I can keep up with them.

I was thinking this might be a good place to discuss the monthly reading assignments or the upcoming Folk Fair. Any thoughts?

The more I learn the more exciting this gets. I really hope this can become a great place to showcase student work.
